Weekly Winners

I’ve been exceptionally happy with the recent LP Studio, which may be a problem - The more guitars in the collection I like, the fewer I have to sell and trade. Nobody said this was a cheap hobby…

Marshall JTM-1 -$600

I'm as close to being romantically in love with an s I think is possible with the Marshall DSL-1. This is part of the same limited run, this time being a version of the JTM 45 rather than the JCM 2000. If the DSL-1 is any indication, this would be a fantastic little amp. Sure, $600 may seem like a lot for a practice amp, but good practice amps make you want to play, and isn't that the point?

EB Axis Super Sport Rosewood Neck - $1599

I've never owned an Ernie Ball, much less a guitar with a solid rosewood neck, so this one caught my eye. Unfortunately, this brown is a touch uninspiring. George Harrison aside, I've never been sure why "all rosewood" is or should be a thing.
The all rosewood neck though is something that interests me. Seems like a reasonable price if the look of this guitar grabs you, but I'll wait for something in blue with the rosewood neck before selling internal organs to buy this one.
Last thing - this is a posting by L&M Brampton, so you''d be paying tax on this. I guess they've figured that if they want to sell used guitars...

Godin LG Signature - $600

I owned one of these in sunburst a few years ago, and although I never really bonded with it, it was definitely a great guitar. Seymour Duncan pickups, outstanding tuners, and lovely necks, these Godin's would probably be my first choice in the $500 range. No, they don't have the appeal of the big names, but a fantastic guitar.

1991 Gibson Explorer - $650

Sure, the Godin is a great guitar, but for $50 more (without haggling) you can have a a Gibson Explorer (with hard case). Obviously with a guitar this old you'll want to be careful with the state of the frets and the neck, and while the "custom" paint job is a bit strange, it looks well done and makes the guitar a bit of a conversation piece. I'd offer $500 on account of the graphics, as it will kill the resale value, but still a cool guitar.
