Too Good to Be True?
Caught a very local ad last night for a Fender Super Champ XD for $100.
$100? Really? Uh, sold?
If you're not familiar with these, you should definitely check them out. Great little practice amps that have variable preamp "voicing" to allow you to ape different classic amps, all while staying true to a tube amp platform. Throw in some effects that understand the concept of subtlety and you've got a nice little bedroom/little jam amp.
This is the 15 watt version with two channels - the first is straight up clean, the second is the voiced one. I had the smaller brother, the Vibro Champ XD - smaller speaker, one channel (voicings), and effects. That was a seriously great little amp, and I'm on the lookout for a used example at the right price to live beside my DSL-1
Back to the ad, the seller notes that they think it needs new tubes, so the price is negotiable. Negotiable? You mean I could have it for less than $100?
Anyways, I responded right away that I'd take it and could be there at his or her convenience... and crickets. Because of course crickets.
Must have been too good to be true.
