Green Monster Update

We got a chance to continue with our "Green Monster" guitar this weekend.  The name probably won't stick, but it's starting to come together.

I asked my daughter what pattern the pink lines should take, since the purple painting was inspired by her desire to make a "star" with the masking tape.  This time, she wanted "vees", so we made "vees"... sort of.  Kind of funny now that I think of it - graffiti guitars being associated with Mr. Van Halen and all.

She seemed pretty excited about how the taping turned out, so out came the pink paint, and on went the pink lines.

Do you wanna build a frankenstrat?
Unlike the purple paint, the pink had a harder time covering the underlying colours, which meant a second coat.  The picture of it hanging is after the second coat, the picture with her holding it is after one.  You can clearly see the difference.  One coat had the pink looking almost orange.  Two left it looking "Jem and the Holograms" approved.

Can't wait to take the tape off....

So was it a lot of pink paint for a few pink lines?  Absolutely.  Are we happy with the results? Totally, although I'm tempted to suggest we do another round of pink lines that run perpendicular to the current ones.

I'll suggest it and see what she says, but I know she's keen to get the jewels on.

Yes.  Jewels.
