Goodbye Marshall, Hello... Something?
Looks like I'll be saying goodbye to an old friend. Not super old, but it's been my favourite little, and sometimes only, amp.
Since picking up the Maz 8 and moving into a detached house, the acceptable threshold for volume has gone up, and frankly an 8 inch speaker can't compete with a 12. To top it off, the wee-Marshall was never intended to be much of a pedal platform, and the addition of the JHS Angry Charlie has taken care of those Marshall-y moments of imaginary rock-stardom.
As you can probably tell, it's not getting much use perched up there, and it isn't exactly a super-cheap piece of gear, so the potential to turn it into something I might use has proved too tempting to pass up.
Long story short is that I have a buyer for a price 20% more than I paid, so while it isn't the kind of return you'd need to make a living off of, it's more than good enough for me.
So what am I spending the money on?
Not sure about all of it yet, and maybe I'll be responsible and only spend some of it, but for now I've lined up that MIK Squier Stratocaster for less than the $200 the seller was asking for it. It's definitely not something that is going to replace any of my current Stratocasters (or anything else for that matter), but the pull of nostalgia combined with a great color means I'm super tempted.
I'm actually more excited about this than I would normally be about such a thing, if only because it's a chance to sort of revisit my first ever electric guitar, and more importantly revisit my decision to sell it in order to buy my Pacifica.
More on this to come...
