Happy New Year Roundup (Repost)

Another year means time for gear? Well that was terrible, but if you're looking for comedy you're in the wrong place.  As I predicted, things after Christmas started to heat up, with fresh Christmas disappointments driving owners to sell their least cherished items so they could pursue the object of their latest affections. Happy Hunting in the New Year. Epiphone ES339 - $400 A few weeks ago it wasn't uncommon to see these selling for somewhere between $500 and $600.  While this may have been wishful thinking on the sellers part,  the post Christmas blues are seeing prices on these drop pretty quickly.  This example alone when from $500 to $400 in increments of $25 in about a day. I don't think you'll see these go much lower, so if you're in the market, strike while the getting is good.  Giving that I've seen Epiphone "Dot Studios" (stripped down Epi Es335s with only one volume and tone) posted at $400 and up, this is a pretty go...

A mid-week roundup that starts off with something that jumped on me...

Anybody got $500 to spend?

I certainly don't. After buying the Maz 8, I think it's safe to say I won't be buying anything in the near future - I've got a fix that'll last me awhile. Good news though - My wife has almost decided on the colour for our second daughter's room.  She's down to something very similar to Daphne Blue and something very similar to Sea Foam Green. My first daughter's room was Sonic Blue, and I have a Sonic Blue Stratocaster.  What kind of father would I be if I didn't do the same for my second born? Fender Jim Adkins Telecaster - $500 I had no idea who Jim Adkins was until 3 minutes ago, when I bothered Googling him.  Apparently he's the guitarist for Jimmy Eat World.  Who knew? (The answer is "all the cool kids" obviously). This is a pretty cool guitar, with some unique features, at a very reasonable price.  A semi-hollow, set neck single cut with Duncan P90s and a Les Paul wiring scheme?  The only thing Telecaster...

Christmas Day Goodies

No, not stuff under the tree. As I've mentioned, Christmas is a particularly active time - kids with money, kids with not quite enough money (so they sell at a bargain), etc. Here's a few more to think about, and Merry Christmas to all. 1979(?) Fender Stratocaster - Sold ($2K?) I remember in the mid 90s when people scoffed at late 70s Strats - three bolt necks, bullet truss rods, big headstocks. They weren't early 60s, so you couldn't be SRV in the mirror I guess? This one came with original parts, thought the neck and middle pups had been swapped. Some people have an issue with that, and if you're dealing with a 1958 example, I sort of get it - you're buying an investment, not an instrument.  In this case though... Who. Cares. The patina on this is just about perfect if you ask me - the wear of the board against the darkening of the headstock is excellent. Love this example. It's already sold. Mesa Boogie Stiletto - $900 This one wa...
