Unknown Excitement / Known Disappointment
The fever is not cowbell, and certainly not more of it. |
Which brings me to the tough part - no matter what anyone tells you, everyone is hoping some rube will come along and offer you 5x what your guitar is worth. I won't actively encourage that kind of thing through whiz bang descriptions, but I do make a point to take nice pictures, so I guess it's just a question of degree.
Well it didn't take long. I've already got an offer inside of 24 hours. The flip side is the offer wasn't particularly specific.
Ad Reply: "Trade for a Squier Telecaster?"
Me: "Pics?"
Ad Guy: "Tomorrow, I'm at work now."
Me: "OK"
Still no pics, but hey, I'm excited.
Why? Well, experience should have taught me to cool my jets by now - The most likely scenario is that he's going to offer a Squier "Tele" from the Affinity series - the lowest of the low.
Predictably disappointing |
He could offer a Squier Standard Telecaster. Maybe it's the Carbonita. Maybe the Thinline. I mean, it won't be. But it could be. If he didn't get specific, maybe he doesn't appreciate the difference. Here's hoping.
That's half of what makes this fun. A moment lacking clarity, when your imagination runs wild, and you imagine getting one of those trades that is just too good to be true.
I'm hoping for the Custom. Custom's are cool.
UPDATE: Yup, I called it. A Squier Affinity Series "Tele". It was fun while it lasted.
