Boston Guitar Finds

Last week was spent in Boston, which is a great city (especially for the Fourth of July).  I was disappointed to find that the Guitar Center near Berkley College of Music was pretty small, but pleased to discover that there was a larger one in the vicinity of Fenway Park. I managed to snap a few pics of guitars that caught the eye.

Ibanez Artcore

Ibanez's Artcore series has always struck me as a bit off - the not-quite-traditional shapes are just off enough to leave me disinterested.  Maybe it's because they've tried to match the slightly different shapes with traditional colors.  Not here, which is probably why it caught my eye.  Once again and Sonic Blue with a Tort pickguard...  I really need to swap out that Blacktop guard.

Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster

This particular Stratocaster sports a Surf Green finish over a pink paisley.  Though it's hard to see here, it's definitely got a great vibe.  Too bad it costs about as much as a small Korean automobile.

Duesenberg Mike Campbell Signature

There is something so incredibly cool about these guitars.  This might be as close to perfect as a semi-hollow can get for my money.  The Stratocaster located switch, the hot rod finish replete with racing stripes, and the vintage-y "D" on the upper bout.  If I was going to spend $3K on a guitar, it would probably be one of these things.

Schecter Sun Valley SS FR

I'd never even heard of these, and from a distance assumed they were Charvel SoCals, though the green looked a bit off for that range.  Sure enough, I was dealing with a different guitar.  Mahogany body seems like a cool idea, but the active pickups seem a strange choice.  Interested to see if these things last.

Carvin DC127?

This guitar was actually located at the Guitar Center nearer to Berkley, which admittedly had more used guitars (gee, I wonder why).  The color is the real story here, listed as "Deep Purple", which is a running joke with my wife and I.

At $699 USD used, I'm not sure though...
